Welcome to
Health Matters Acupuncture
Acupuncture is among the oldest, most commonly utilized systems of healing in the world, having originated in China some 6,000 years ago. The approach is based on actual experiences and observation over the millennia, providing an alternative method of pain relief and general wellness. Only over the past few decades has its popularity spread to the West.

Our
Services
Here at Health Matters, our acupuncture training is based in Chinese medicine. We will do focal pain treatment and energetic pathway treatments for healing. Many treatments involve not only needle treatment but may include gua sha scraping, cupping and moxibustion. We believe in a holistic approach at Health Matters by treating the physical, emotional, nutritional and mental aspects of your body as one. Your initial visit will entail a detailed history and evaluation to design a unique individual treatment protocol.
PAIN MANAGEMENT INCLUDING BACK PAIN

As a treatment chronic pain, including the neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, and legs, acupuncture stimulates an increase in the circulation of fluid and oxygen in damaged muscle tissue, resulting in general relief and an increase in muscle strength while often enhancing the recovery process. It can also help to minimize headache pain and reduce their occurrence.
SLEEP DISTURBANCE AND ANXIETY

Acupuncture has been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for insomnia, RLS, snoring, apnea and other sleep issues. Treatment lessens anxiety, stimulates melatonin production, induces sleep onset, and reduces sleep disruption and arousal throughout the night. These cumulative effects amount to an overall increase in total sleep time.
PEDIATRIC ACUPUNCTURE

Pediatric Acupuncture can be an effective alternative treatment for childhood illnesses, especially chronic conditions such as asthma, allergies, behavioral and mood disorders, skin issues and sleep problems. Stimulating the body to heal itself, without drugs and their side effects is one of the safest ways to help your child back to wellness.
COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE

This allows the skin to be nourished, oxygenated and moisturized from the inside out, increasing blood circulation and collagen production within the skin. The natural stimulation and production of additional collagen help to tighten the skin, improving both the complexion and elasticity while promoting subtle, natural looking changes over time.
FERTILITY ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture helps to improve blood circulation to the ovaries and within the uterine lining, providing the optimal conditions necessary for fertility. It can also promote to balance the immune system, reduce the side effects of medications used in IVF protocols and reduce stress levels to assist with successful implantation.
CUPPING

Cupping is used to stimulate circulation by creating suction and negative pressure beneath the skin. It can be effective in the quest to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.
DIGESTIVE HEALTH

Digestive disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, including chronic stress and dietary issues, such as eating too many high-fat foods. Acupuncture targets digestive imbalance by reducing stress and regulating the endocrine and nervous system hyperactivity that often accompanies digestive conditions.
MOXABUSTION

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called “moxa” are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The purpose is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. Moxa is usually made from the dried leafy material of Chinese mugwort, but it can be made from other substances as well.
