El Segundo/Tokyo
NINJA Mobile Inc., a leading developer of mobile entertainment, enterprise and infrastructure, today announced the release of two new surfing applications, Surfline PRO and Surfline MOBILE, developed for QUALCOMM’s Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) platform.
NINJA’s Surfline PRO delivers a unique and realistic surfing game experience to users of BREW-enabled handsets. Wireless subscribers can surf massive waves in Surfline PRO using their skills to tackle various wave speeds and heights of eight to 12 feet to win. Players can ride the tube, stall, cut back and earn power-up items to perform off the lip, reverse 360fs, floater and aerial maneuvers.
Informational surf reports will also be available on BREW-enabled handsets, through NINJA’s Surfline MOBILE application. Users can access up-to-the-minute surf conditions directly from Surfline, an industry leader that provides surf reports and forecast information to consumers, businesses and government agencies worldwide. Surfline MOBILE is powered by ROPE – NINJA’s mobile enabling platform and device framework.
With our considerable experience in the Japanese mobile market, we selected the BREW platform based on its success in this market and others worldwide, in addition to the widespread distribution and support the solution provides, said Kiyoto Hirai, CEO and president of NINJA Mobile. We are impressed by the comprehensiveness of the BREW system - all the business and technical aspects are already in place, which makes it easier for us to focus on the development and delivery of quality entertainment and enterprise content.
NINJA Mobile plans to release additional BREW-based games next year including AirStorm, an action packed 3-D aerial dogfight game and other extreme sports themed multi-player applications.
QUALCOMM is proud to help NINJA Mobile expand their mobile content to markets worldwide, said Mike Yuen, director, BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. NINJA’s initial offering is sure to please surfers looking to catch huge waves, whether in the ocean or on their mobile phone.
QUALCOMM’s BREW system provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.
Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 19 manufacturers have offered more than 90 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. The BREW system is successfully enabling the commercial wireless data services of many very successful operators, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, Midwest Wireless and U.S. Cellular in the United States, China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutch in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth International in Colombia and BellSouth International Panama.About NINJA Mobile, Inc.
